EGD - Findings,( Need info. please)

I had my 4th EGD, done on 7-30, (for a stricture in my esophagus).  The dilitation- (stretching of my esoph.), was done, AGAIN.  First duiagnosed in March 2007. I was previously diagnosed with 'esophagitis'. I take both Reglan and Nexium (2 ea. daily)for this condition. Then, two days ago, I was told that I also have "nodular Gastritis" .  I understand that this is some type of inflammation of my stomach. I'm not sure how I got this, but I am very anemic, and suspect that this may have caused the Gastritis. I'm anemic because of the Interferon I'm taking for HCV. What does NODULAR, (re; gastritis), mean? If They give me something for anemia, will this help to treat the Gastritis? I feel like I'm falling apart. Any info. will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance, Wassup

Nodular gastritis is typically an endoscopic indicator of H. pylori infection. Have you been treated for H. pylori and retested?

No, I havn't been tested for H.pylori, but I see my G.I. Dr. on 8-11, and I'll ask re: this.  Thanks for your input. Appreciated. Wassup

Please be a bit pushy about this issue. Nodular gastritis is typically 'defined' as antral gastritis that is found in the lower part of the stomach - the antrum - and endoscopically they find a pattern that looks like 'gooseflesh.' Pathologically, it's 'clumps' or more properly prominent lymphoid follicles that have a lot of mononuclear cells (immune) in them. Nodular gastritis can be found in some cases by long periods of time before diffuse gastric-type cancers are found. So it may be important to be pushy.

But please note that there's not a 100% correlation.

Thank you very much for taking the time to explain all this to me.  I did ask my GI's NP re: H. Pylori infec.  She explained that the biopsy done last Feb. showed no indication of this infct.

Sometimes I wonder if my proactive approach to my health issues, is healthy for me,( I also have High Blood pressure, and HCV, (Hepatitis C). )

Appreciatively,  Bevy

Bevy, being proactive in this day and age is the ONLY way to go. It's unfortuante, but docs often take the 'brush off' approach which doesn't make things easy.. In order to stay healthy, you're going to have to be pushy and proactive.

You don't want the condition to take a downward turn and become worse than it is, so please stay on top of it.
