GERD... need help

alright here it goes....i got sick about two weeks ago and the doctor prescribed me azithromycin...i got  pains in my chest around when i started taking this(on the third day) so i went to the doc and he said it was reflux...well now ive been getting reflux feeling everday...i have always been healthy but i do drink a lot of coffee, i never really had heartburn before the azithromycin, the pain is on my left side near the seperation of the sternum and up into my breastbone....two questions

could azithromycin cause me to have GERD?

and are these classic symptoms of GERD or something worse?

also ive been under a lot of stress to, can that contribute even more to the GERD

ginger crushed , boil it with water add crushed dry cloves, bit honey. It neutralizes acid reflux. I have tried it. dont depend too much on medicines .eat healthy. Normally westerners dont believe in ayurvedic medicine but this will help. Try atleast for a month

I had the same thing.  Took azithromycin.  Got LPRD.

Wonder if instead of causing the LPRD, it kills the gut flora, and that leads to LPRD.

Go back to your doc and ask to be tested for H. pylori. And if he thinks that it's GERD he should suggest some form of acid suppression meds and following a GERD diet to try to tamp down the discomfort. But it's not going to help overnight. You'll have to be patient.

The drug probably didn't cause the heartburn. You may have been ready to 'shown' the symptoms and the med just brought it 'to the surface.'

Stress can play a big factor in making the symptoms more acute. So do everything you can to try to bring the stress level down.
