Gallbladder pin......

I have had gallbladder pain 4 a couple of yrs now. Had a very painful attack 2 yrs ago or so, went 2 the Er, was given something 4 pain 7 a GI cocktail which helped alot! No stones, but said my gallbladder was "thickening"! What does thicking mean? At the time I thought probably basically nothing! But over the past 6 months it has gotten really severe, epecially the past 3-4! I have pain Everyday..with or without food! Most Severe (Very Bad!!) is right in the middle directly in opening between ribs-so painful, not like heartburn either just stabbing pain!! and in my right side of my ribs & slightley below...pain is getting worse there! Pain in my shoulders & back below shoulder blades! I've been to the ER 3 or 4 times this yr for this but not 2 a reg dr. yet, goin' this afternoon! Would like 2 know if there is anyone with same such symptoms???, if u have been 2 a DR, the result of that?? Actually any info at all would be appreciated!! God Bless 2 al, Brandy

I just had the HIDA scan 2 days ago and have been going through the exact same thing as you for the past 4 months. Been to the ER 4 times and they said it was acid reflux. The HIDA scan found that although I had no gallstones I had biliary dyskinesia where my gallbladder was operating at 20%. Only a HIDA scan will show this not an ultrasound. I am scheduled to have my gallbladder removed in 4 days laparoscopically. The surgery is in and out in the same day. Go see a good gastroenterologist and have them order the scan. It will tell you once and for all if it is your gallbladder should be removed. I feel your pain. All the best!!!

i had the exact same problems and pain in the same areas as you are having! go demand an ultrasound asap! It is either a polyp in the gallbladder(which can sometimes, but very rarely cancerous) or gallstones. hope i helped some! good luck!

If the doc believes it's GB related, he should ask you to have both a GB ultrasound and HIDA scan with CCK injection to look at the structure and function of that organ. Thickening of the gallbladder wall can occur when the GB is becoming non-functional or due to an inflammatory process.
