Gas, belching and stomach pain almost every night.

I am a 45 year old female with a history of IBS (diagnosed in early 20's).  Up until recently (May to be exact) I have not had many stomach issues.  Lately I seem to have gas, excessive belching, stomach cramps and very long gurgling that keeps me up several nights a week.  I see a functional medicine doctor and just found out last week that I have an incredibly low ferritin level.  Ferritin is iron stores in the body.   My ferritin level is  only 9 and it should be 40 or more from my understanding.  I have been told the low ferritin can cause digestive issues and those should resolve once my iron stores are built back up.  The rest of my blood work was great.  Has anyone else experienced these issues on a regular basis and if so, what was the reason and how did you resolve the problem?  I have no idea if these symptoms  I have a truly a ferritin deficiency or if there is something else going on.

I have not had any experience with this, but what treatment plan did you doctor give you?  Are you taking an iron supplement now?

Have you been checked for ulcers?  Ulcers can cause excessive amounts of gas, and bleeding from them can cause ferritin levels to be lower too.

My doctor has me on an iron supplement.  I will ask about ulcers.  Thank you so much for your response.
