Gastric post-op complication

My husband had cardiac surgery 15 weeks ago. Then followed cardiogenic shock, multiple organ failure, sepsis, c diff, infections and now tummy which is distended is rejecting food and not absorbing tube feed (NG)  Scans, xrays, endoscopy, colonoscopy, blood tests all clear eventhough he has unexplained diarrhoea and vomiting. Ulcers, gastritis, GERD, GCF ruled out. Medics perplexed. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Helena

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  First, I would recommend that he get on stable nutrition.  This could be done by turning the NG into an NJ (which is a pretty easy procedure usually done in IR).  Hopefully this will help him tolerate feedings better. The unexplained diarrhea is probably caused by the c diff.  The vomiting might be caused by the antibiotics he is on for the c diff/infections/sepsis.
