Pinworms

Hi!

I found out on valentine's day that i have pinworms. i am taking vermox twice a day and this is my third day (only one more pill to go in the evening).Since i read here, that many people can't get rid of them even with vermox, what is the actual succes rate of Vermox. When can i expect the medicine to work, since yesterday, after ingesting my fourth pill, i still felt them crawling etc. and found them in my stool, alive.

Any help, anyone?

Thanks helped a lot now I havnt had em ffor 3 weeks and I and noticed a considerable ammout of improvement in my anal area you helped a lot and my house is now a lot more of a clean enviroment.

What were your symptoms and how did they diagnose you with this?

You'll have to rent or buy a steam cleaner. Before you begin your treatment, boil underwear, buy depends (you'll need em while your taking meds simply because they're disposible.
Strip your beds, begin hot water wash on clothes and bleach with disinfectant. Wash everything! Wash sheets, blankets towels bed spreads and as your removing them from the wash, plastic bag em, tape em up and pit them aside.

Bleach your kitchen, bathroom and any other uncarpeted room -- those steam cleaners are wonderful!
When you're finished in your kitchen, steam clean all furniture; beds, sofas, chairs and any other cushioned surface. Then carpets can be steam cleaned.
Prepare a drink: 1 whole lime, skin on, half a cup of water and a tablespoon of sea salt. It's gross!!!

When you've finished all this, bring a garbage bag into the bathroom and Disrobe,  place all clothing in bag and tie it up. Shower, put on depends, dress as usual and drink nasty beverage fast. You'll gag, but get it all down. It's a potent parasite killer. It's used by medical clinics in 3rd world countries. Don't use it more than one day in a months time. It can be toxic if you overdo it.



It's a long 8 hour day, but it's the only way you're getting rid of them.

Pinworm medications

Usually a single tablet of mebendazole (Vermox) is used for treatment. This can sometimes be repeated a week later or, if infection persists, the medication is given again three weeks later. Some clinicians recommend a treatment protocol of a drug dose every 3 weeks, 3 times, so that the person has effective drug treatment for about 9 weeks total.

Another effective medication is albendazole (Albenza) but it may require other medications to reduce the inflammation of the central nervous system, a side effect of the drug.

Pyrantel pamoate (Pin-Rid, Pin-X) is available over-the-counter for pinworm after confirmation of the diagnosis by a licensed healthcare practitioner. Drugs available over-the-counter vary from country to country.

To treat pinworms affecting urinary and genital organs, combination therapy with oral mebendazole (Vermox) and ivermectin (Stromectol) for the worms as well as topical therapy for the eggs may be required.
Most pinworm infections are treated at home with the above medications. However, reinfection is fairly common. To both reduce the chances for reinfection and to help prevent others from getting pinworms, see the prevention section.

continue drinking the medicine for 3 weeks.. another drug for that is albendazole but it has an adverse effect on CNS.. its effective though..
