Hiatal hernia and redness in stomach after endoscope

My question is what caused it to randomly start giving me pain, why is my stomach red, and what does all this mean for me in the future.

Randomly about 6 months ago I started getting horrible stomach pains and I finally got sent to a specialist. The other drs. said I had acid reflux and gastritis but did not take any tests  other than an h. pyrloi blood test which was negative and just based it off of my symptoms. I do have a family history of various stomach issues which made him think it was IBS. After the upper endoscopy I was told I had a Hital Hernia right below my sternum where I have been having pain and that my stomach had redness. He took biopsies to check for celiac (gluten intolerance), and H. Pyroli bacteria. He didn't tell me much other than what he saw. I looked up what the hernia is online. My question is what caused it to randomly start giving me pain, why is my stomach red, and what does all this mean for me in the future. I'm an 20 year old female in very good health. I was very active in sports all through high school but since I stopped playing I am less active but have not gained weight, I eat healthy and I don't smoke. I use to drink on holidays with friends but never a lot. I've looked online but I can't really find any reasons. help!

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Stomach redness is inflammation of the stomach, usually called gastritis.  Gastritis can be caused my alcohol, H pylori, certain illnesses, certain medications, or it can be idiopathic (no known cause).  The hiatal hernia can cause heartburn which might be the cause of your pain.  In this cause, you could try a PPI like prevacid or prilosec to see if that helps.  I think that in the future this will improve a lot.
