How can I slow down my bowel transit time?

I have Crohn's Disease, and due to that I have had 2 bowel resections and a permanent colostomy for a total of nearly 1 meter of missing bowel.  For the last 2 months I have not been able to gain any weight.  I am eating plenty and my appetite is good, in fact, I'm always hungry.  But I have noticed that after I eat, I will start to see it come out of my bag after about 2 and half hours.  I have also been hospitalized for dehydration and kidney failure.    I have tried eating more fiber, as well as a medication, but I cannot seem to gain any weight.  Any suggestions?

Has your doctor made any recommendations for diet?  Are they aware of the weight gain issues?  It can take some time to heal and to gain the weight back.  You will want to make sure you are getting plenty of protein, focus on good fats (such as olive oil over butter), and talk to your doctor to make sure they are aware of the situation.
