How do I clear a fecal impaction?

I am 13 weeks pregnant and have struggled with constipation for a good portion of it. I’ve been managing to have a bowel movement every three days or so, but for the last week, I haven’t had any bowel movements and for the last four days or so I have had a bowel movement stuck right at the entrance. I feel like I have tried seriously everything. I reached out to my OB and she said lots of water, fruits and vegetables, colace, and exercise. I did all that and had no movement. She then suggested a glycerin suppository and a fleets enema. I did both with no success. She then said to go to the ER as it was now considered a fecal impaction. In the ER, they tired manual evacuation with no success, IV fluids, milk of magnesia (which make me vomit) and another enema. None of those worked and they sent me home saying “Sorry there’s nothing else we can do. Anything else we could do we can’t do because you’re pregnant.” I’m eating prunes and Raisin Bran. Drinking hot tea and flavored sparkling water as much as I can. I’ve even tried manual evacuation myself and NOTHING WORKS. I am at my wits end and my behind is in so much pain. I don’t have any abdominal pain fortunately but I just have to get this out. What can I do?

I would ask your pharmacist what they give people after surgery that can’t go to the bathroom. I had that after my shoulder surgery. I took Dulcolax which after crying on a Sun night to a friend who is a nurse and it finally worked. Good luck

Ask your Dr about a Pico flush.

Also, don’t eat any fibrous foods that may get lodged or are hard to digest. Limit your food to puréed pumpkin/soups (no  skin), clear broths, white bread, eggs, fish, jelly, clear juices and lots of water - give your bowel a chance to rest.  Ask your Dr to assist as they can perform enema’s for you, as a last resort.
