Is it IBS or something else?

From what I remember I developed my gastrointestinal problem at the age of 17.  It all started with my acne.  In my senior year of high school I developed acne.  Before that I had a really nice complexion.  I believe my acne came from stress, which I still suffer from on occasion, but not as bad as before.  When my acne got worst my mom took me to a clinic and they prescribed the antibiotic "Tetracycline".  The minute I started to take it that's when I developed my gastrointestinal problems.  It all started after taking the pills for my acne my stomach would make these loud embarassing sounds.  Not only did I notice the noises (how could I not notice), but also the foods I would eat and loved my stomach didn't agree with anymore.  I never had diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, or most symptoms associated with IBS except the bloating, gas and loud intestinal sounds bellowing from my stomach.  I got thru my senior year of high school by taking antacids like Alka-Seltzer, which seemed to work and tubs but only for a short time.  It at least got me through high school.
I still suffer from this problem, and I have seen a Gastroentrologist but all she suggest was to take dietary supplements and try eliminating certain foods from my diet and to try to have more fiber.  I even tried every antacid and dietery supplement known to man and still nothing has fixed the problem.  Alka-Seltzer seems to help and so does Tums, but for a short while. Sometimes they don't even do the job sometimes the sound don't even go away after taking them.  This whole stomach problem has even become a pyschologic problem I can't concentrate on things nor pursue my goals because being in a quiet environment is uncomfortable because the gassiness and gurgling are so overwhelmingly disrupting to me and embarass me.  Please don't tell me it's normal as one doctor has told me.
I've been doing some research and it seems alot of people have the similar stomach problem.  Please help me and everyone else with this problem diagnose and find a cure to the gassy loud gurgling sounds.

Are you still taking the Tetracycline?  Are you on any meds for IBS? If you are still taking the Tetracycline, go back to your doctor and tell him/her that it is causing you these problems, and ask to be put on something else.  You obviously have a lot of gas in the stomach area, so did you try eliminating certain foods from your diet?  Foods are usually the culprit when it comes to gas.  But I'm a BIG fan of second opinions, and sounds like you need one.  Did your GI ever do an endoscopy?  There are excellent medications for IBS that can break down the gas throughout your entire large and small intestine.  If all of your problem is the gurgling, gas, etc, in your stomach, then I would think it is not IBS, but rather a medication you're taking, or foods.  Seek another opinion, and until then try eating foods that are easily digestible.
