It wont all come out

I am 35 years old and was diagnosed with IBS when I was 22. In the last few years it seems to have gotten worse even  though I eat better. My problem: I feel like I can't get "it" all out. I need to use the rest room, i go, but when I get up from the toilet I feel like I need to go again. I have to wear pads all the time because some will come out no matter what I do. I can wipe a million times..the paper will always have "it" on it. I use baby wipes to try to keep clean but it doesnt help. I can't even use tampons without it causing fecal matter to come out. My poor husband thinks I don't want to make love to him, but the truth is, I am scared "it" will come out when we have sex. I have very little control. Someone please help...

Check with your doc about having some testing done to see if your internal musculature is 'incompetent,' which can happen in cases of pelvic floor dysfunction. There is a test called a defecogram that can follow the 'workings' of passing fecal material - although in the case of the test you're passing a barium paste. In many cases the pelvic floor muscles can be retrained to stop the problem.

In addition, sit down and talk with your husband. I know it's a difficult subject to talk about, but it's something that concerns both of you - not just you alone.

Sounds like you have some impacted stool.  When this happens it gets lodged in the bowel and anything you eat remains somewhat liquid and goes around the impaction, and causes "anal seepage."  Try a good laxative to clean yourself out, this should stop the leajage, if not take another because it may just take 2 tries.  IBS can cause you to have the urge that you need to go to the bathroom, but you really don't.  But since you have seepage I suspect the impaction is your problem.  Not a big deal you just need to dissolve it so that it passes and the seepage stops.
