Just had my first Colonscopy : Diagnosed with

Hi,

I am a 38 year old male who has been suffering from all kinds of symptoms that
have gotten worse over the years. Chronic fatigue, profuse seating, enlarged liver (very tender), watery diarrhea
sometimes with the presence of blood, loss of appetite, weight loss, unusual skin lesions, palpitations,
dizzy spells, shortness of breath and occasional vomiting.

As you can imagine, I have been misdiagnosed with many things which were all treated by medication.
Unfortunately  for me, none of these treatments provided any relief at all! After demanding further testing from my GP,
I was sent to a neurologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, sleep diagnostics center and finally a gastroenterologist.
On Monday, I attended my scheduled colonoscopy. Everything appeared clear, but the doc had removed 6-8
skin samples throughout the colon to test via biopsy.

I was contacted yesterday by this Doctors nurse and I was told that I tested positive for ulcerative colitis and he wanted to see me right away.

After doing some research, I am hoping that it isn't  Amebic Colitis because it does cause liver pain. Unfortunately, I looked this up on the internet to get a better understanding of the diesease It is a type of protazoa
that is commonly found foods or anything handled by an infected person that didn't wash their hands well.
It is also considered a type of STD commonly found in gay men and I AM NOT GAY!  LOL

I do remember having several serious bouts with food poisoning over the years and that is the only thing I can think of
that would cause any type of ameoba or colon problems. I am very troubled by this because I can't see him for 3 1/2 weeks to find out the exact type of colitis it is. I just find it odd that he needed to see me right away and wouldn't get into details.

Anyone else here suffer with similar symptoms besides the basic symptoms of UC - such as sweating, fatigue, skin lesions (appears almost like acne - tiny blister) and appears to be dark after healing like a small bruise and dizzy spells/ palpitations and liver pain?

Please let me know, I am kind of freaking out about this. Would he have told me on the phone if it was a type of Amoeba? I know it is VERY contagious and I certainly don't want to give it to my kids or wife.

These symptoms started approximately 10-12 years ago. No Offense, but I am scared SHI*LESS

Sean

Why don't you call your doctor Monday and talk to a nurse and tell her you are freaking out and need to know something more.  They will probably help you relax.  If he isn't able to see you for 3 1/2 weeks then I tend to think it isn't what you think it might be.  Ulcerative colitis like CalGal said is just that, UC.  Call your doc Monday and try to relax.  Good luck.

Ulcerative colitis is just that, ulcerative colitis. This is not anything that anyone around you can 'catch.' If you want to research it, use the terms ulcerative colitis and you should be able to access a lot of information on this form of colitis which is considered an autoimmune disorder.
