Just wondering if this is normal after Gall Bladder surgery?

I had Gall Bladder removal surgery almost 3 weeks ago. Before the surgery I had complaits of left side aching/bloating (usually right under the ribs and down) After the surgery the surgeon told me he looked around in the area and saw nothing out of the ordinary. He seemed puzzed about the left side area and told me to see my GI about it.

About 3 days after the surgery, it all started back so I started a low fat diet and it has eased up a little.   But it's almost like the bottom part of my ribs aroujnd the left side and to my back are aching and I have one  area about 3-4 inches above my belly button that just kind of burns a little.

I'm constantly having the sensation to rub my belly (which I'm not sure if that's making it worse).

I had these symptoms before the surgery. But test after test show nothing.

I started back to work on Thursday of last week and the incision areas are hurting. Is that ok and will it work itself out?

and any ideas about the other?

My mom , actually, mentioned stress. But I don't see how stress can make your body hurt like that. All in mu lower ribs and in my back.

Sorry to hear about everything that is going on. I can only imagine your frustration after going through the surgery only to encounter unanswered questions and why you are having this pain.  I am sorry I don't have the answers, but I can certainly relate to the pain of gallstones.  I too have them, mobile ones.  They say surgery but I before I actually do it, I have to think long and hard.  Only because no matter what site I hit, it is amazing the number of people who have had the surgery are still having problems.  I am so confused...but time will tell. I am following my diet a very low fat in fact.  But they now best ( doctors) ..or at least we think that.

I cannot say whether your mom is right or wrong, but I can tell you stress can do some serious damage to your body.

keep in touch and let us know what you find out.  take care and hope you get to feeling better!

Hi, I sent the link twice, but this site erased it both times and sent me an email that it is a conflict of interest. I don't want to get in to trouble so I hope you are able to find more answers.

Good luck.

Yes please send the link. My right ribs are ok. It's just mainly under my left rib and that left side bloating and above my belly button. Almost like a itching or burning.

Pancreas is fine. He said everything else was fine. I'm just at a stalemate here.

I'm getting really depressed over this.

I'll pretty much do anything to get this to go away.  I had all these symptoms before the surgery as well.

Hello. I had my gall bladder out early December 08' due to stones and I still have some pain under my ribcage, although mine is on both sides. My incisions were sore still for atleast 6 weeks after the surgery. I still had pain above the belly button, b/w the rib cage as you describe and always feel bloated and full and the pain goes thru to my back as well. I have had Pancreatitis, caused by the stones, before my surgery and have had it since my surgery as well. The GI, told me a stone must have gotten loose just before the surgery and caused some damage again. Either way, the surgery is not always a perfect solution and I suggest you start eating a really low fat diet (no fun) and see what happens. Some people can't digest red meats at all after getting their gall bladder out. It is unfortunately hit or miss a lot of the time. I will send you the link to a yahoo group that is soley for people who have had problems post gall bladder removal.
Good Luck.
