Liver

I have nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and have severe pain in my upper right quadrant that radiates to my side and back.  The pain is unbearable when I become active even walking, doing dishes, and normal everyday activities.  It is now become painful when I lay on my sides(the right side and stomach is the worse).  They are treating the paim with Tramadol and this takes the edge off, but the only way to stop completely is laying on my back and sometimes with my knees bent up.  The Liver Dr states I should not be having this severe pain with the disease and they sent me to a Blood Dr whom states that he believes the Nash is the problem.  But the doctors are not agreeing with one another.  Has anyone else have this type of pain or suggestions on what else could be the problem?  I have had MRI and CAT Scans and Endoscopy.  I do not have a glabladder and have had an ERCP done back in 2005. I have been off work since June and have lost my job and I am getting no where.

They did repeat the MRCP and everything checked out ok.  So, I am back to square one in which no one knows what is causing me such discomfort.  I was told to continue with the Tramadol and nausea medication and they will see me again in February.  Any suggestions out there of someone having similar pain?  I go back to my General Dr on 11/19 for followup on my bloodwork.  They also gave me medication to take at bedtime to help me sleep which has helped.  But I am tired of taking care of the symptoms and need an answer so I can get back to living a normal life.

You may want to recheck your biliary system with an MRCP. If the ERCP was done to remove stones, you may want to recheck to see if you've developed new stones or sludge, which can happen. There can also be spasms of the common bile duct or the muscular opening to the duodenum (sphincter of Oddi dysfunction) that can feel like a gallbladder attack and make you miserable.
