Long term effects after colectomy as infant

Hey, I'm trying to connect with anyone that can spread some light on long term effects of colectomy.
My daughter had 90% of her colon resected at 10 months of age(from NEC complications ). She is now five and she has good and bad days. I'm trying to figure out if she could be feeling a pending BM type sensation, when she has to urinate. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi there!

Well, it would be difficult to comment specifically on the situation without knowing the relevant clinical details such as the type/ extent of colectomy, the type of anastomosis etc. Usually colectomies have a good prognosis with few long term complications, though I would suggest discussing the situation and the expected prognosis in detail with his treating gastro-surgeon/ gastroenterologist.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
