Mucoid stool at the third go...

I am a retired person aged 69 with no tension or anxiety, getting good sleep at night (11.30pm to 5.30am). But, I seem to have developed a chronic digestive problem.

My first stool in the morning (6.15am) is good - soft & well-formed. My second stool (8am or so) is also good - but, little liquidish. Thereafter, say 10am onwards, I often feel mild (not compelling) urges for defecation. And, whenever I go for, very little amounts containing mucus trickle out....with no pain or cramp....

General examination of stool did not show any infection.

Any advise?

Have you used antibiotics recently? There is a condition called microscopic colitis which can result.

You may want to consider trying some probiotics if all else has been found to be normal to see if that gives you a hand with your GI issues. In the meantime, keep track of what's going on and see if you can put your finger on any other small changes that might not seem significant at first.

Have you made any medication changes? Food changes? Do any foods seem to make things better or worse?
