My gall bladder is still present after gb surgery

Hello sir,

In july 2013 i was hospitalized in emergency as i got my bile duct blocked due to gall stones,i got jaundice,i got severe pancreatitis and my liver got inflammed.. I was operated for my gall bladder in august..Got laproscopic surgery. My surgeon told me that my gall bladder got removed..After 6 months i got pain again like i was getting earlier..I was worried and confused..I consulted another surgeon for 2nd opinion and he told me to perform an ultra scan again..In this ultra scan he show that my gall bladder was still present with many calcules..I was shockd to hear that :(..I asked him that how come my gall bladder comes again as it was removed earlier..He told me your gall bladder might hve collapsed at the time of surgery and might have sticked to one of the body organs so your surgeon may havent seen it..

My ques tion is that do i have to perform a surgery again to remove my gall bladder..And can laproscopic surgery done twice ?? i have already done it earlier before few months..Or is it safer to do an open surgery?

Kindly help me... :(

Hi, sometimes when there is excessive inflammation, the gallbladder may not be removed completely, it is then referred to as subtotal cholecystectomy. In such an instance gallstones can recur in this remanent. As you have gallstones now, you will need surgery again, this time your doctor may prefer the open approach, please concur with him. Regards.
