Odd Digestive Issue

Hi and thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I'm a 24 year old male, play a lot of sport and eat well. On occasion I have this (I find rather strange) digestive issue where my stool is literally half light brown (normal color) and half a really really dark brown. I wouldn't say black but alarming enough the first time it happened. This color usually hangs around for a few days and then returns to it's normal color in the same fashion (where the two colors are pretty much separated by a line). The form is generally the same/normal - maybe a bit worse for the few days that it is a really dark color. I saw my doctor and he was pretty dismissive about it - just mentioned that "stools change color, if it goes back to normal nothing to worry about." It happens probably every 6-10 weeks. I usually feel really tired for a day or two leading up to it - like i'm fighting off a cold or am unwell. It also sometimes appears to happen after I've been pushing myself to extreme in sport. Don't know if that is relevant. Does anyone have this or know what could be causing it? Or am I worrying over nothing. Thanks

thanks for the reply. No it is only soccer, so only semi-contact. I do play at club level so I get the occasional knock but nothing too substantial. Sometimes it appears to just happen randomly with no obvious change in diet / stress levels. Seems to always start with a day or two of feeling weak leading up to it

Would one of your favorite sports happen to be very hard contact like rugby, etc? I used to play ice hockey with pretty heavy checking going on and I vaguely remember another guy mentioning something like this.
