Pharyngeal diverticula

Has anyone had experience with pharyngeal diverticula or pocket? Did you have surgery and, if so, how long is the hospitalization and recovery time?

Similarly, what non-surgical solutions might there be for pharyngeal diverticula, Zenker diverticula, or a "throat pocket"? Are these 3 different names for roughly the same thing, a pocket that catches food particles and/ or mucus?

That's what I've been dealing with almost two years, and I'm not 50 yet and an athlete. ? Any help appreciated.

And @Momof3Gramof2 did you get the surgery or what did you do?
thank you!

Hi, the surgery can be performed by the open method or by endoscopic surgery. The most common open procedure (diverticulectomy with CP myotomy) has no contraindications. The endoscopic approach (diverticulotomy) may not be performed if the patient has significantly reduced cervical extension or marked trismus. So, depending on the type of surgery and if there are any complications, recovery time will vary. Please discuss with your surgeon. Regards.
