Soft stool, diharrea followed by stomach pain

Please help. Ever since I had my second son (via c section) I have had excruciating abdominal pain on and off.

I couldn't even beging to explain it but, I'll try. IT begins with abdomen pain and feeling bloated and pressure. Then I have to go running to the bathroom and there it is either soft stool at first then diharrea  or one or the other. I have never felt this way before and it is scaring me.  Just tonight I had the same problem. I am beging to think I have a knot in something or the Dr. sewed my guts to my stomach or something. I am sorry to be so dramatic but, I cant help what to think. This keeps happening and no one can give me any answers.
I do have poly and psoratic arthritis I have psoraosis on my hands. I've had two c sections with no problems(just big babies!! ha ha). I eat veggies and fruit and I stay away from really spicy or hot things. I am of cuban. Yes I am overweight and highgly stressed at the moment since my husbnad got out of the Army in October 07. I do not know if it is stress or if it is something more serious..

If anyone can help me please write to me

They can do SIGMOIDOSCOPY - it's like colonoscopy, but they check only last 30cm of your colon, and it is considered to be safe in pregnancy.

Hi Diane, so glad you are feeling better.  Doc may be thinking you did in fact have an infection in the beginning that cleared itself, and are now experiencing post infection IBS.  Guess the chances of that are pretty high, and stress is a direct contributor - as that was my diagnosis as well when I surely thought I was relapsing with my infection.  It did pass, but like he said - take in that sample if it rears its ugly head again - and feel better soon!

Infectious diarrhea has a short course, it usually stops without any treatment. If the infection was caused by parasites, symptoms may come back (or not). If it hapens again, you'll give the stool for the test.

Well I went to the doctor and was seen by a resident doctor.

He told me I could have a form of irritable bowl. He only checked my blood sugar which was 83. He also did a urine test and I have not gotten the results yet. He offered no other explination other than maybe I am stressed. Well no kidding. He did not offer to do ultrasound or anything else other then if this happens again to put my stool in a container he gave me, and bring it to the outpatient lab.

Strangely since my doctors visit I have not had diharrea. It has been solid alot of it and quite frequently. I do not know what to think of this.

I have an appointment this thursday at 945a.m. I will let you all know what is going on. The nurse told me they probably cannot do a colonoscopy due to pregnancy but, they might have to. I think that would be dangerous wouldn't it?.  I hope they find out what is wrong with me. I thank you guys for your help and concern.

You can take a sample of a stool with you (take it in a clean bottle, or you can do that at doctor). This really shouldn't take much time to the doctor. You might even get antibiotics in advance, and when the results of stool test will be known, your therapy can be adjusted as needed.

I have some bad news. Last night I Was up all night 3 times with diaharrea. I cannot believe this!. At first I couldn't poop. Solid came out but, I had to force it then diharrea came out alot of it as usual. MY son has an appointment today and when he goes in I am going to schedule something for me and see if they have any time left.

Just for info: as said, you probably have infectious diarrhea. Viral and bacterial diarrhea often go away in some days, and no drugs are needed. Parasitic diarrhea, if not treated, may last longer, some weeks, so an antibibiotic is prescribed to shorten its course. If symptoms won't get worse, you won't need to go to the hospital, you'll just get antibiotic and you'll stay at home. Well, doctor will decide.

Well the doctor had no appointments last week so I will have to wait. Of course if it gets too bad I will go to the hospital.  I can't thank you all enough for your helpfullness and concern.

Doctor should know well which antibiotic to prescribe in pregnancy. Just mention this to him, besides, if there were only a slight danger for the baby, that would be clearly mentioned in antibiotic description.

It is a stool test which can reveal the causing microorganism - it may be bacteria or parasite, it's not important for you to know at this moment, stool test will show this, and appropriate antibiotics will be prescribed to you.

I felt so sick today and woke up with bad abdominal pain again. I ran straight to the bathroom and had a bunch of diharrea just fly out of me. (sorry for being gross) it was chunky and alot of it. The color of it is like orange or redish orange  but, no blood or mucus. It smells so bad too. It's like I am starving and then I eat then in the middle of the night or in the morning there it is again.

I am thinking it is parasites for my mother in law had diharrea for almost a month and found out it was parasites. How can you get this?. I am constantly washing my hands and walking around with handsanitizer clorox wipes and sanitizing wipes.

Google symptoms for Clostridium Difficile (C-Diff) too, especially if you've been on antibiotics recently.  May wanna call your doc soon, especially if your symptoms match.  Best of luck to you

Is your stool more pale than usuall? Sticky or foamy? Does pain starts shortly after the meal? This would go with gallbladder disease. Gallbladder stones or infection comes with colic pain - it's like a persistant cramp, which can last for several minutes.

Having stomach flu 3 weeks ago, doesn't mean it can't be the infection again. It could be another infection, or that flu prolonged in chronic one.

What to do?
1. Stool test to rule out intestinal infection - bacterial or parasites most probably.

This by far has been the worst of it I have been up all night with chronic bouts of diharrea and NO vomitting. I got over the stomach flu 3 weeks ago so I know that can't be it. I always wash my hands and such so I do not know what to think now.

I am also 5 weeks pregnant with our 3rd child.

I am worried it could be my gallbladder?? Any help would be great.
