Stomach virus?

Starting on monday night 9/5 i started having stomach pains i got up to use the bathroom and i had just diarehia both really loose and watery. I didnt go to bed till 6am because it was back and forth to the bathroom with the same thing everytime it was yellowish greenish bowls. Over the next 3 days i got massive headaches like never before and got hot flashes and felt like i was going to throwup but never did still till today 9/12 finally that thursday i went to the doc because i was up again all night with stomach pains and couldnt sleep. The doc checked me out and said it was merely a stomach virus but its been a week already and havent gotten better. What i wonder about is my stomach is fine no pain until i have to use the bethroom then i get this severe feels like burning pain right below the waist line along with hot flashes and sweating i feel like im going to vomit and passout but after im done the stomach pain gradually goes away and im fine. The color came back to nomal in my stool its still mushy but im glad its not yellow or green anymore could this be just the end to a stomach virus or something more? I trust my doc but want a second opinion.

It could still be a stomach virus, however, it could be a bacteria or even parasite.  I recenlty had a stomach virus that lasted about 7-8 days.

Have you ever been tested for or diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)?

Your headaches could very well be a sign of dehydration - with all the diarrhea, you can get dehydrated pretty quickly.  Be sure and stay well hydrated - water, ginger ale, sports type drinks are all good.  The sports type drinks will not only replace fluid, but also essential electrolytes that you could be losing with all the diarrhea.

I would say if you're not better in another day or two, see about seeing a gastroenterologist.  You may or may not need a referral from your regular doctor - it depends on the doctor and also your insurance.

Are you running any fever?  If you are, or if you start to - you may want to try to get into a gastro doc sooner.

I hope you feel better soon - believe me, I know how miserable having to run to the bathroom all the time is!
