What causes clear and yellowish mucus when I poop?

I was diagnosed with IBS a little over four years ago. The last month or so I've noticed allot of mucus when I go to the bathroom. I use to see a little from time to time, but this is allot! Sometimes its the only thing that comes out. And when I do actually "go" is thin most of the time. I am bloated allot! And the past couple of weeks, anytime I eat, I have to go to the bathroom. So I went to the Gastro doctor last week. He said I need to take Benefiber ever day and he also wrote me a prescription for Dicyclomine. What could it be? He said the next thing would be to do a colonoscopy.

So, ulcerative colitis can cause that. It's most likely pus if it is yellow.  To me this sounds like complications of your IBS or ulcerative colitis.  Have you started the medication yet?  Is it helping?

My sister in law actually has Ulcerative Colitis. But she had blood in her poop. I started the medication and I think its helping some. I still see some mucus but its mostly clear now. I have been taking Benefiber with Probiotics. I don't go to  the bathroom ever time I eat now, so that is a plus. I go back to the gastro doctor the 28th. I am just worried about having UC. My SIL has been through allot! And of course Colon cancer has been in the back of my mind.
