Some doctors will not admit that acidic foods like lemons can actually cure an ulcer, but the fact is they can.  however in your situation, this is not what you have, thus I am not sure i would recommend that.

If indeed what you have is acid reflux, here is what you do...

Find the spot in the middle of your cost between your breast but just under them. There is like an indentation in the center, it should be almost the last rib.  Then push that spot, gently, and move your index finger to the left, still pushing down and keep going for about 2-3 inches.  This will close the valve that is causing the acid reflux, it's simple, and it requires no doctor visits and no medication.  Just do not push to hard. You can do it 4-5 times and then give it a break and if you still have problems do it again. You will knwo it is the right place as it is a little bit tender in that area...

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi from an Urgent Care doctor!

Your doctor was probably saying that you have gastroesophageal reflux and need to avoid fats, caffiene and alcohol since they relax the lower esophageal sphincter that lets more acid go back up to your throat.  Meat's ok.  Just not too much of anything.  Bigger boluses of food tend to come back up.

Acidic foods won't help.  Including tomatoes.  Not because they're poisonous, because they're high in acid.  That will be more uncomfortable.

Many of my suggestions are listed in the FAQ's on the right of this page:

Well some say that Tomato's are in a poisonous food group, but I am not sure if you can eat these or not...  You will have to talk to your doctor.

The problem is that meat causes the body to become acidic.  What you want to try to do is make your body more alkali.  Spicy food probably would not be the best thing right now for you.

You can check with your doc, but I think if you eat some acidic fruits that would help you. Lemon, Orange, etc. Grapefruit may interact with your meds so you should check with the doc before eating that one.  Acidic fruits will become alkali while digested, that is why I am recommending them, but you should talk to your doc first. Because I do not know your problem so well i am not suer if you can or cannot. If you had an ulcer I would deffinately recommend that you eat lemons, which is very converse to the doctors opinoin, but I would do it anyway as I have read and seen people get better by doing that. For your problem I am not sure if acid fruits are ok or not, but I am thinking they will be benifical to you.

You may want to ask him about acidophilus or other kinds of pro-biotics, it is mostly for the intestines, but..  Also some kind of a digestive enzyme to help break down food.

I would stay away from the following: meats, milk products, eggs, sea foods, nuts, beans, and oils. These are all acid forming.  Instead eat more vegetables and fruits. You need to become a vegetarian for awhile.  And don't over eat.

The Doc told me to exercise atleast twice a week and keep off fast, acidy foods etc. He said it could be because of to much acid in the stomach and there is probably an infection. Also i had some xrays taken of my stomach and the doc said everything look ok and its probably an infection.About the bladder i done some test for infections but everything is fine, so im guessing its because of the stomach problems ive got? He gave me some tablets to take, they were helping abit but i was getting other pains. I think because i didnt have enough acid in the stomach or because it was getting better?

What did the doctor tell you was the problem? And what did they recommend other than staying off the fast foods? Did they give you any medication?
