Why are my toilet habits different

I never seem to feel empty and i have to use a lot of tissue. Even after i've wiped up and it seems there's nothing left, i then feel the need to clean up again an hour later. It creates an offensive odour to the extent where i can't go out of the house much. Why are some people in there and out in a few minutes yet everytime i go to the toilet it's a prolonged ordeal ? i was referred to a hospital once but i cancelled because i can't travel or get on public transport because of the mental problem it has created. Can someone reccommend me a diet or offer any kind of advice. I'd like to keep a diary on my problems and how i'm trying to resolve it but this seems to be a q & a section and not a forum ?...i know this kind of things is a bit taboo but i'm a hygenic person and it unfair that i have no quality of life because i eat food. Thank you for any help or advice.

Thank you for your welcome and advice. I think i will eliminate all lactose and as you have stated just keep persisting with trial and error. If anyone else has any similar problem can offer advice or anything then feel free to reply or send a message.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Don't worry, nothing about bowel habits are taboo on this forum.  I would recommend trying to cut different foods out of your diet.  I would recommend starting with eliminating all lactose to see if that helps.  Good luck.
