Worried - Duodenal Neoplasm

Good-afternoon,

Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated as I am beyond worry. December 2017 I had a clear endoscopy, but a follow up CT Scan showed the following:

My CT findings:

Best demonstrated on the axial and coronal reconstructions(axial image 40, coronal image 47) is a 1 cm rounded soft tissue density at the junction of the second and third portions of the duodenum near the expected location of the ampulla.

Impression: possible 1 cm polyp or mural nodule at the junction of the second and third portions of the duodenum near the expected location of the ampulla.

Everything else showed fine and my doc said come back in 3-6 months. After going back my doc says there is a “benign adenomatous neoplasm” in a high risk area, but not to worry. He is doing a second endoscopy with a side facing scope because he didn’t see it with the initial forward facing scope endoscopy. He has written it’s benign, but I started searching the internet and now see how bad this could turn out.

Does anyone have experience with ampullary duodenal neoplasms?

How can he be certain it’s benign from a CT Scan?

The rest of the scan was normal to include the liver, pancreas, etc. I am very worried that since the CT is now six months old things could have spread.

My symptoms of course are now worse after the news: nausea, abdominal pain/cramps and gerd. I do have IBS.

Thanks in advance!
