amylase lipase pancreatitis

is there anyway to make your amylase and lipase go up without having pancreatitis?  can you give yourself pancreatitis without drinking a lot? im curious because i had it and they didnt know what caused it.  please help respond im having black stools and bad pain and cramps in my stomach.

A lot of OTC things can make the numbers go up a bit, but typically not to the point that you would be having levels that could be construed as pancreatitis.

And if you're having black stools - and you can't account for the color change due to something you're eating or taking - that typically suggests bleeding in the bowel and it needs to be followed up on.

What have you been taking that you think might account for a hike in the numbers?

Make sure you're checked for autoimmune pancreatitis.
