bowel obstructions

I have been having abdominal pain with intermitant vomiting for almost 3 weeks now and the pain is becoming more severe with each episode, my doctor had me get a ct with contrast done but said it was normal except for some adhesions my question is whether or not i should still be concerned that i could still have a partial obstruction from those adhesions and that they aren't bad enough to show do you think I should quit worrying about it if the ct was normal.

Adhesion bands can cause obstructions, though it is very rare unless you have had surgery in the past.  I had a severe pain after eating that would come and go in waves and seemed to radiate from my right side down to my back.  After about 12 hours, I started to vomit and thought I would faint to the point where I went to the emergency room.  I also had a CT scan and they decompressed my bowel.  My doctor said that decompression (suctioning out the bowel) often will solve the problem.  In my case, this did not work.  Luckily I opted for surgery and had about 3 feet of my bowel resected.  It was severly necrotic, black from strangulation and in danger of rupture.  The chances of this happening spontaneously are 1 in 10,000,000 (unless you have had prior surgery), but the consequences can be lethal.  Three more hours and I wouldn't be around to type this message.  I would suggest that you get it checked out again soon.
