chest and back pain and throbbing after endoscopy

Hi everyone 5 days ago i had an endoscopy. the day after the procedure i started getting pain all across my chest and radiating through to my upper back. now 5 days later it’s still there and my back hurts a LOT and i feel a constant throbbing in my back - sort of where the stomach meets the esophagus. the doctor took 4 biopsies and i called him and he didn’t seem worried and just said it sounds like i must have a super sensitive esophagus. has anyone had this sort of pain before? did it go away? i’m so scared i’m going to have to live with chronic pain now

Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. Very sorry about this issue after the endoscopy.  It is reassuring that your doctor is not concerned but can understand why you are not satisfied with that answer.  https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/endoscopy/about/pac-20395197.  Complications such as a gastrointestinal tear or infection are very low after endoscopy but they do happen. Chest pain is one of the symptoms. Being uncomfortable is quite common though after the procedure.  But further evaluation is in order if this does not resolve.  People generally do not have chronic pain after an endoscopy so wouldn't be worried about 'having to live with pain' forever.  However, you may need to follow up in the near future if it is not gone to make sure you aren't having a complication.  Let us know what you think.
