endoscopy/ upper abdominal pain

I have been having upper abdominal pain and tenderness right under my lowest rib on the left side. Its a gnawing dull pain that fills close to the surface for the last few weeks. A lot of pressure/fullness that fills like something is trying to almost push out especially when working out. I thought it was a hernia and got a cat scan from a doctor which showed no hernia/ everything was fine. Whenever I bendover I feel a lot of abdominal swelling/ pressure , I almost avoid doing so now. So he referred me to a GI... the GI is going to perform a upper endoscopy. I am wondering what he could possible find? I have no irregular bowel movements or GERD. Would he even find anything if the symptoms seem close to the surface of my skin? I dont know how the GI organs are placed.

Your intestines run all along that area and the pain can be felt in other areas known as referred pain.  I feel it's a good start to finding out what is wrong, and if the GI doc doesn't see anything wrong in your stomach or duodenum, he will do other tests as well as a physical exam of that area.  This is his specialty and he will find the problem quickly. I hope this helps and hopefully you get some relief real soon!  Take care.
