enlarged bile buct 13mm no stones

CAN U HAVE AN ERCP WHILE U STILL HAVE A GALLBLADDER?MY BILE DUCT IS 13MM AND I HAVE HAD AN ABDOMANAL ULTRASOUND,CT SCAN,HIDA SCAN,AND AN MRCP AND ALL THEY SAW WAS THE ENLARGED BILE DUCT  13MM. MY DOCTOR SAID THAT HE WOULD NOT DO AN ERCP UNTIL I HAD MY GALLBLADDER REMOVED. I WENT 2 A SURGEON AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY GALLBLADDER AND HE WOULD NOT REMOVE IT.THIS PAIN THAT I AM HAVING HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR 76 DAYS AND I HAVE LOST 37 POUNDS. WHAT DO I DO? CAN THEY NOT DO AN ERCP JUST TO TAKE A LOOK AND TRY TO FIND OUT WHY MY BILE DUCT IS SO ENLARGED?

Dont know why post went 3x weird.... yes i know they can do it... for me after the surgery my surgeon told me that my gallbladder was inflamed and scarred, this did not show up on any tests or scans, so ya never know.  I hope it all works out for you and they figure out what is going on.  Will the 2nd GI do the ERCP for you soon?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE.DID U ALSO HAVE AN ENLARGED BILE DUCT? MY GALLBLADDER IS FINE I HAVE WENT AND SEEN 2 DIFFERENT GALLBLADER DOCTORS AND THEY WILL NOT TAKE IT OUT BECAUSE MY GALLBLDDER IS PERFECT. THERE IS NOT ONE THING WRONG WITH IT.I HAVE SEEN 2 GI DOCTORS AND ONLY 1 OF THEM WILL NOT DO THE ERCP WITH ME STILL HAVING MY GALLBLADDER.FROM WHAT ALL I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD ABOUT THE ERCP IS THAT THEY CAN GO IN AND LOOK AT MY BILE DUCT TAKE X-RAYS DURING THE ERCP AND SEE WHAT IS CAUSING THE BILE DUCT TO KEEP ENLARGING AND JUST FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. IF THEY DO ANOTHER ERCP AND HAVE TO CUT THE BILE DUCT THAT IS WHEN YOU DEVELOP PANCREATITIS.

Yes they can do a ERCP while having a gallbladder as thats what my surgeon wanted a GI to do to make sure it wasnt the ducts... although for me my gallbladder was very sluggish so the GI told him its better we take out the gallbladder and will go from there... ERCP many times can cause pancreatitis so they rarely do them.  Usually its something to do with the gallbladder causing problems with the bile ducts.  Once my gallbladder was out all my symptoms diappeared so i did not need an ERCP. Maybe get another surgeons opinion?
