enlarged bile duct

I have had lower abdomen pain for about four months that has steadily gotten worse and wakes me up every morning now.  It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or don't eat and within the last three weeks pain is now up my right side, and I have some nausea.  Passing gas has increased and is more foul in odor, but no change in stools.  I had a cat scan with contrast dye and it shows an enlarged bile duct.  I am now scheduled for an ultrasound in three days to look further at things.  I have been researching online and since I don't have itching or jaundice, I am wondering if anyone knows what could be going on with me?  Thanks!

Thanks so much for responding to my post.  I am hoping the ultrasound I am having two days from now will show the cause and whatever this is can be treated.  My fear is that it may not and then I will be paying for more tests and still not getting any relief from whatever this is.  I have been looking all over the internet and just haven't found anything that exactly matches my symptoms that also has to do with an enlarged bile duct.  My mom had her gallbladder out years ago because it had stopped functioning and I remember months of her being in discomfort before any test results showed what was truly going on so she could get it out.  I hope and pray that is not the route I will be traveling on!

I see it is years later, but wondering if you are still active on this site. I have the same problem.

Two of the more 'benign'  reasons for an enlarged bile duct are it can occur after removal of the gallbladder, or it can also develop due to some form of blockage to the duct if someone experiences stones or sludge. Jaundice and itching does not have to occur if the blockage is transient.
