gagging nauseous and sometimes vomiting when seeing food?

heya! first I got to say that I dont have this anymore but I would like to know what was hapening back then. and maybe if someone else has this that this can be a bit helpful to read this!
Also I have to say that back then I was very depressed and anxious(I am still batlling and getting better :) )so I understand my lack of apetite back then,, and maybe the times I was very damn anxious and panickin(but I will exclude those moments for now).
but when I was 14 (till my 16) it started every time I ate or sometimes when I saw/smelled food.when Having normal and calm dinner with family, eating alone trying to be as relaxed as possible or even eating my fav snacks would trigger the gagging. it was always gagging and I had to try so hard every time I ate to not show it. had to eat veeery slow to not get nauseous or even start puking.my mom though that I was doing on porpuse and started checking on me every time I go to the bathroom but I swear it wasnt on porpuse (well.. later on it was when I was going somewhere crowded so I wouldnt puke on people hah,,)
I had been trying to keep on checking with my psychologist if it was any specific food but we couldnt really find a pattern (except for when I got anxious. but again I am not talking about that now)
in the end I wasnt eating much at all (specially in public) and my friends took notice of that and tried to make me eat my food which just ending up in vomiting that litlle bit I ate and my body just kept on trying to puke even when there was nothing else inside my stomach (which I have to say that that is wayy worse than puking your food out lol)

ehm..thats it I guess,, I am trying to understand what was happening with my body and mind back then so I could maybe help people who go through similar stuff.. thanks allot in advance!
