After removal and that day will come, there is a very big chance your stomach is not properly working anymore.....nobody talks about that. But that is also why there are so many revisions to a sleeve or gastric bypass, yes it a silent cover up.
And you thought they were helping you.

found the following on the web:

Just like any other kind of surgery, the Lap-Band surgery has many risks and complications involved. However, due to the less invasive nature of the procedure, the risks involved with Lap-Band surgery is less severe as compared to other weight loss surgeries like the open gastric bypass surgery. Unlike other weight loss surgeries which are completely permanent, Lap-Band is a reversible procedure meaning the Lap-Band device can be removed any time.

So what are the possible complications and risks associated with the Lap-Band system? The risk of mortality during and after the Lap-Band surgery is very rare as compared to other types of weight loss surgery that has higher risk of death. One of the risks involved is that it is possible that the Lap-Band device can erode into a patient's stomach. This Lap-Band erosion can be corrected by surgically removing the eroded band. The band around the stomach can also lead to obstruction or may even puncture the stomach. The stomach pouch can also stretch or the restricting band may break or migrate to the lower part of the stomach. This kind of complication will allow the patient to eat more than they should because of the stretched stomach pouch. When this happens, a second Lap-Band surgery is needed to correct the problem.

There are some cases wherein patients encounter access port problems. This usually happens when the port is twisted or leaky. In order to correct this Lap-Band complication, a second procedure might be in order. Another risk involved with the Lap-Band procedure is vomiting. This is usually caused when the patient overeats more than is required.

Since the Lap-Band works by restricting the amount of food taken inside the stomach, some complications include stomach problems like the deterioration of the stomach wall, ulcer formation, gas bloat, and in rare cases, heartburn and difficulty in swallowing. These complications are very rare because these stomach problems will depend upon the patient's own metabolism and level of stomach acidity.

All of the aforementioned risks and complications can be easily avoided when one strictly follows all the guidelines instructed by their doctor. The risk of vomiting can be prevented by following the proper diet guidelines right after the surgery. The patient should follow the different stages of the diet phase and should also avoid any of the food groups that can further cause problems for their condition. High-fat, high-calorie, and high-sugar containing foods are among the food groups that should be avoided by the patient
