possible hiatal hernia

I'm not sure what's going on. I have constant pain in my chest. Sometimes it's behind my sternum, sometimes dull pain on the left side behind my breast, sometimes it radiates through to my back. I'm 22 years old, female, overweight, but otherwise ok. I went to see the doc about heart palpitations about 1 1/2 months ago. She told me that she thought maybe i had anxiety so i started a prescription of Zoloft. I had a terrible reaction to it and quit cold turkey after 3 weeks. it made my heart palpitations happen so frequently i thought i was going to die. after i quit i had panic attacks for the first time in my life. that was almost a month ago. I have had my heart checked with echo, ekg, holter monitor, and blood work. the doc says my heart is fine but my chest still hurts everyday. I don't have heart burn alot, but i have radiating pain through my chest and it is worse at night. I don't feel hunger the same way either, it's weird like my stomach hurts when i haven't eaten but it doesn't feel like the same hunger pains i had before this whole zoloft thing. I have been short of breath and it kind of feels better when i press on the part of my chest that hurts. please if anyone knows anything about this i'd appreciate it so much. i have so much to deal with between my schoolwork, my children, and my husband. I really need to find a solution. oh and when i eat a lot i start to have irregular heartbeat with palpitations and tachycardia.

hello, stop stressing, you have what i think is gastritis, your symptoms mimic this disorder, and stay right away from anti-depressant drugs, first ask your gp for a helicobacter-pylori infection breath test, if found positive then 99 pc you will have gastritis and maybe a couple of stomach or esophagul ulcers, this can only be determined after your gp has you undergo an endoscopy, in the meantime stay away from acidic foods and fizzy drinks, and take over the counter medication like mylanta until you see your gp, cheers.

your symptoms sound similer to mine and i do have gastritis after finding out after having an endoscopy.
my chest pains are quite bad now and have been given "pariet" by g.p and a referal to see a gastro specialist.

i've given up everything with caffeen, tea, coffee and fizzy drinks.
onions, garlic, tomatoes, any spicy foods and limit amount of chocolate and sweets.

i too am over weight and have lost 9lbs in a month, so it is very important you do loose some weight.
my doctor says having gastrits can cause ulcers if not treated properly, so you do really need to do anything you can to make the symtpoms easier.

let me know how you get on and even though it seems a bit exstreem do try staying off any foods like above that can make it worse and try not to stress as this agrovates it as well.

all the best and hope this was helpfull.
i know exactly how you feel.
