Dizziness

Can anybody help me? I am a 17 year old male, that is 5'8" and weighs about 144 pounds. For the past week, I thought I was getting sick. I thought I was getting the Flu, Stomach Virus, a Cold, ECT. About two days later, I've been getting chest pain, dizziness, left arm pain, sometimes both arms, shoulder pain, shortness of breath, feeling weak, and not hardly been able to sleep lately. Like I said, I thought I was coming down with the Flu or something. I'd eat and then sometimes throw it back up. Then I thought I was dehydrated but my pee is clear and stuff. My eye site seems to be blurrier. My neck has also been hurting. I thought I might have slept funny. I've had the Flu before but nothing like this has ever happened and I know I'm not dehydrated. I don't want to go see a doctor and it be nothing. Any answers? Please let me know soon. Thanks.

Hi, How are you feeling now? If no better than I strongly suggest a visit to the doctor, your symptoms point to many different things and it is best to get the issues cleared up before they get worse.

I'm sorry that you are feeling so lousy with school starting.  Are any of your other school friends sick with the same symptoms?

Did you get the Meningitis vaccine?  You may need to ask your mother if you don't know.  Is your neck still hurting?  If you bring your chin to your chest, does it make your neck and headache worse?  If yes, go to the ER now since there have been outbreaks of meningitis in the US already.

Are you able to keep water and food down without vomiting now?  Any diarrhea?  If your pee is clear, that is a good sign; it means you are drinking enough not to get dehydrated.  If you can't keep food down, then keep taking sips of fluids so that you do not get dehydrated.

Dizziness can be caused by dehydration, but in your case it doesn't sound like this is the cause.  There are other causes as well.  It is very possible you have a bad virus, or at worse a bacterial infection.  If your sinuses are full, that can throw your balance off by affecting your inner ear.

So if your symptoms are not improving I suggest that you get evaluated by a health care provider to see what is going on.
