well some of us have no choice  but to take a medicine all the time.  Advair is the only thing that has ever controlled my asthma. without it I would die. I have come close to death many times on all other meds for asthma. natural things do not work either. I have a tricky system that cnnnot tolerate many medicines. with advair   Iam getting candidiasis. But am treating that with special diet and  probiotics. But with my lowest dose of advair I am able to jog two miles every morning at age 61!So before you advise someone to stop taking  your meds and take a break you should consult a doctor. Not everyone has the same experience as you!

I was able to quit using Advair and only use my rescue inhaler from time to time. (When someone decides to wear certain perfumes or colognes).   I am taking grape seed extract which contains OPCs which are very good for controlling asthma.

Just thought somebody would like to know...

Albuterol isn't the only rescue inhaler.  Xopenex is also and it doesn't make you hyper or nervous like albuterol.  I have battled copd for 15 years and I quit albuterol in favor of Xopenex inhaler and nebs.

Flovent is not a rescue inhaler. Who told you that? Only Albuterol nebs or inhalers are rescue inhalers,
Flovent is aka fluticasone,  you can grow aspergillus with flovent and advair. Did you read the patient information that it can also cause resp infections as well as cataracts, over time?
Have you changed your toothbrush, had dental cleanings or told your MD/ Have you been offered Mycelex lozenges or Diflucan? You need to do a spirometry test in office and get an oral swab culture done and clear this up.
Allergy to what? Advair?  Flovent? aka Flonase, I had a doc tell me to spray Flovent up my nose, as if he didn't believe me about use of Flovent. What an idiot, same stuff. I always bleed about a week after use of this. I stopped all the junk, and rinse with warm saline, Neilmed premixed saline packets and someone gave me several bottles of Alkolol rinse, this helps with sinus issues.  I have Asthma dx'd by methacholine challenge test. did you? or did they guess? I also have DNA adult Cystic Fibrosis without the pancreatic involvement. most likely environmental, epigenetic/chromosomal changes , doc wrote exposure to oil fires, GW 91,
rare mutations, enough to cause the CF infections, after I fired the docs for the MRI metal skin changes and not telling me about dec kidney function, payback is hell. I'm telling everyone what MRI metal does and CT radiation.  My CF is fine , so is the asthma sx. I have emergency meds, prednisone, inhaler meds, prn, but since I stopped seeing the "allergist" immunologist, I got better, also, know that   if you are told to use wetting agent, such as I bought, the Neilmed Sinus Gel, it has synthetic hyaluronic acid in it, I reacted to it violently with one dose, as well as Omnaris nasal spray with 2 doses in 24 hours, lungs dropped to 50%. he gave me the sample, in fact, every sample he gave me I reacted to eventually. Spiriva, Symbicort. Do not use Symbicort or any drugs with Formoterol in them. Dangerous. Look it up.

I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?

advair has warnings on it that it can cause candidiasis, yeast infections if not rinsing mouth or the dispenser, I would not use this, you can also get it in your lungs, remain untreated even if they treat your mouth and not your entire body, it can get into your eyes, too, long term use, cataracts, If you can use something else or not at all, then do it, but do not use meds ALL the time, give your body a break , see how you feel, if you use meds ALL the time, eventually, your body could get dna, chromosomal changes, and they can measure this, what are you taking this for, why?
