Anxious about First Gynecologist Appt

I'm a 21 year old female. I've only ever seen my pediatrician. I know for my next physical I should see a gynecologist, but I'm nervous. I have generalized anxiety disorder and I can feel the anxiousness about this. It makes me very nervous and anxious that a doctor I'll only have just met will be seeing and touching so much of my body. When I see a gynecologist should I tell her about my anxiety diagnosis and how nervous I am? Is it normal to be this stressed about this? How can I relax about it?

It's very normal to be nervous when u go see a gyno! I'd just tell them this is my first time seeing a gyno and I'm nervous.  Trust me they have seen a lot of things!  This is what they do.  It is always better to get checked and be healthy then to have cancer or stds!  You will be fine and feel better after it's over. I too suffer from survere anxiety and take no meds. I just make myself do things to get them over with!  Good luck sweetie!

Thank you. It's going to make me nervous to even tell the doctor that I am nervous because I don't really like talking to people about my anxiety. But I guess it's important for the doctor to know how I'm feeling so that she can help me relax the best.

It's  normal.  My first time I was nervous  about  some  random person looking at my  hooha. Just let the  doctor know that your nervous. Everything will be fine. Good luck

Thank you. I don't take meds either, I have gone through an assessment for it twice, but never actually took the prescription. I guess you're right it's just something I'm going to have to just push myself through and I'll be able to relax when it's over.
