Brain fog/memory issue

For those of you who experience brain fog, I wanted to ask you about how your memory is. My memory has gotten a lot worse, and lately it's been kind of scaring me.

Sometimes I'll see or hear something that reminds me of something, but I just can't remember what it is. It's as if my brain says, "Oh that's familiar" and then nothing happens. I don't remember what it reminds me of. The worst part is how my brain sorta has an "ah-ha" moment, followed by nothing at all.

When it happens I usually have to sit there for a few moments and try to recall what it was, usually unsuccessfully. It's gotten to where it causes me a pretty good deal of anxiety.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so, how do you deal with it?

Get your doctor to check your blood levels again.  You may need the injections rather than oral medication of Vitamin B12.  The doctor should run tests to find out why you are not absorbing the vitamin and to rule out anaemia and other blood disorders.

It may be that your body is not absorbing this vitamin, or you are not eating correctly.  Make sure you eat a healthy and balanced diet.
Meat, eggs and cereals contain B12.  You may like to read about it more on line to find other foods that contain the vitamin.

The Vitamin is water soluble, so you have to have an intake of it every day with the foods you eat.

My memory has always been poor and I mix words up a lot..  I always write important things down and even with that I sometimes write down the wrong thing.  Had a doctor appointment the other day and got it into my head that it was at 10.45.  Something was bugging me in my head so I phoned to check and the appointment was at 9.45.  Just as well I phoned up and checked.

Wow, that happens to me alot, but I know it's from my medication, which is probably why it doesn't bother me...it's never about anything of real importance to me, but I still write important stuff down on my dry erase board or my notebook, just to be sure I remember.  One thing that is more difficult to deal with is recalling faces but not names.  I will have people come up to me joyously in the store, saying 'Hey! How have you been?'  And I draw a total blank.  Sometimes I just 'go with it', make the convo breif, and get away.  Other times, when I 'know i should know' this person, I will just say 'Please forgive my bad memory, would you tell me your name again?'  That always works, too.  I hope this helps!  Blessings - Blu

Thanks Jemma :) That's actually what I thought too for a while, but my gf would usually remind me of what it is I forgot or I would remember way later in the day. It seems like my brain is just having a hard time recalling memories when it's necessary.

I will definitely start taking some B12. My levels have been a little on the low side (about 250) lately even though I'm not sure why. I was put on injections a few years ago because my levels were low but they just won't stay up for some reason.

What you are experiencing is called a "Déjà vu".  This is a French meaning "already seen".

Déjà vu is the experience of feeling sure that one has already witnessed or experienced a current situation, even though the exact circumstances of the previous encounter are uncertain and were perhaps imagined.   This can be felt by adults and children.

So don't worry about it.

If you feel your memory is worse, you can take Vitamin B12 and make sure you drink plenty of water.  Dehydration, tiredness, depression, stress, anxiety and urinary tract infections can also make the memory worse.
