Bruised and extremely painful after dog attack?

On Friday night I was in my backyard with my dog and I heard some noise in the alley. We've (meaning our neighborhood) been having problems with kids/teens breaking into garages and vandalizing things so I figured that's what it was. I went into the alley to shoo the kids away and to my surprise when I came around the corner it wasn't kids but two dogs digging in the trash. I surprised them and they surprised me. The dog closest to me lunged at me and got me by the arm and pulled me to the ground. The second dog followed suit. A fire whistle went off and the dogs took off. Luckily neither dog pierced my skin. But now my arm is bruised from my shoulder straight down to my fingers and covered in bruises. It didn't hurt then but it hurts pretty bad. The slightest touch to my arm is excruciating.  How can I alleviate the pain? Should I go to the doctor or E
R?

Hi there!
So sorry to hear you went through such a vicious attack. I suggest you get it checked out at least by your primary care physician as soon as possible AND make a police/animal control report. Those ill-natured dogs shouldn't be allowed to run loose!

Also, idk if you believe in holistic meds and home remedies, but after you see  the dr, perhaps you can soak your arm in warm epsom salt bath (15 mts), then cool towels(15 mts)...every other hour...then apply Arnica externally (such as Boron Arnicare or Weleda massage oil with Arnica) and  take internally(such as Boiron Arnica Montania pellets).

Arnica is good for pain, swelling and bruising. Btw...typically, swelling increases up to the third day. If you have that extensive of  bruising, you could have tissue or muscle damage, so please get it checked.

Keep me posted on progress and let me know how you are doing. Hope your recovery speeds along.
