Does expanding redness = infection in a cut?

I got several cuts due to a fall around 34 hours ago, one of which (on my hand and right ontop of a tattoo) has increasing redness around it. In addition, there is a layer of raised and white/yellow skin. The wound was cleaned, and had a salt solution as well as antibiotic cream applied to it and the area only has mild pain. Still, I am unsure if it is infected due to the expanding redness and the white area I mentioned before.

It might just be healing.  Keep an eye on it for pus and feeling hot.  You might be allergic to the antibiotic cream or your band-aid.  Sometimes it's good to expose it to air.
