Hello, Sara is absolutely correct, an infection is stress on the body, and any stress can certainly cause an elevation in blood sugars. This can happen in even non-diabetics but usually their insulin is working well enough to bring it down fairly quickly.  If this continues, I would see you PCP and discuss what measures can be taken to help the bg level. Are you a diagnosed diabetic or pre-diabetic? You might want to have an A1C blood test to see exactly where you bg's stand if not.

I am an diabetic.  I am type 2.  But if there is stress in the home will that cause it too?
Oh most definitely stress at home can cause it to rise, any time of stress can cause the cortisol levels to rise and this raises the blood sugars as well. I am sort of in the same situation, I am pre-diabetic, and right now under a ton of stress so my fasting levels are a wee bit higher (in the 90's to 105) I don't take anything however, I just put 2 tablespoons of vinegar in 6 ounces of water before each meal and this helps a great deal and I avoid some high spikes, but even then, add stress to the picture and it makes controlling it just that more difficult.

Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. To answer your question, yes.  Absolutely.  Being sick and having an infection, being under stress all can increase blood sugar.  Here is some information on that. https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/features/surprising-blood-sugar-swings#1  This is something you should discuss with your doctor and we hope you are feeling better very soon.
