Ear cartiliage

Is it better to get your ear cartliage pierced with a needle or a piercing gun? Some people say dont pierce it with a gun. Which is best?

I haven't heard that about the "shattering".  I've had it done with a gun with no complications before, but I will only get it done with a needle from now on because cartilage can be tricky to pierce.  Having an experienced piercer pierce you manually is actually gentler than a gun, in my opinion.

Hi there, not a medical expert but have gotten my ears' cartilage pierced numerous times, some with a gun and some with a needle.  The gun is not accurate enough for me because you can end up with a weird angle for your piercing, and sometimes the cartilage is tough and the gun is more painful because it may not go through easily.  It's just my experience that having it done manually with a needle is more "personalized" since cartilage piercing is pretty variable for each individual. Hope this helps!

Gun is quicker less painful but if u don't do it in one quick motion you could get hurt or mess up the hole like making it slanted. A needle could do all the same but needs extra concentration. I've always had the gun, but only for the ears. When I had my nose done it the professional used a thick needle.
