Friend is ill, nothing helps!

So my friend has been really sick for almost two weeks. It started off with just fatigue and low fever, now he has 38C or higher fever all the time, his eyelids are puffy, bad case of sore throat with tonsils all swollen and white spots on them, he doesn't have any appetite, even if he did he can't swallow, he has a stuffy nose and swollen lymph nodes, also balance issues, he can't sleep, has sudden chills or feels really hot, one night he slept with five blankets (room ~23C) and he was still shaking and trembling. He went to the doctor but they just wrote him some antibiotics, these haven't helped either, he has taken Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, and Aspirin for the headache but absolutely nothing helps. He's drinking warm tea all the time, has foot baths, rests as much as possible. I am so worried he's just not getting any better and it's really scary. We suspected it could be a bad case of strep throat but then the medicine should have worked and his family or at least his girlfriend should be sick too. Im scared i might lose a friend, please help.

Sorry he is so sick.  Is he any better?  There are some nasty viruses out there.  For sure.  Flu is rampant this year.  Fever is actually the body's way of fighting illness.  It's to serve a purpose.  Although it is uncomfortable.  The ibuprofen doesn't bring the fever down at all.  Basically too, try not to have him put on 5 blankets when he has a fever as that compounds the rising body temperature.  Keep him intaking lots and lots of fluids.  And if he is still ill, back to the doctor he goes.  good luck
