Headache and more after drinking only 1/3 of a can of a monster energy drink.

Hello, thank you for reading this. I have never drunken a caffeinated drink before (except for pepsi, coke and 1 latte) but today I decided to try a monster energy drink (the normal one) to see the effects. I drank 1/3 of the can or even less and I quickly experienced a medium to strong headache and a feeling of weakness. The headache faded mostly after about an hour although I still feel a weak headache. Is this normal? Why am I experiencing this?

You may be hypersensitive to caffeine.

From your description, you may be sensitive to caffeine above a certain level as found in the "energy drinks".  Your best bet is to stay away from such drinks or any caffeine in pill or powder form as they may be harmful to your health.  It sounds like you can get by with the lower caffeine found in the carbonated drinks or coffee you mentioned, but for best health, sodas should be avoided because of sugar content.
