Infected Finger

I went to the doctor for an infected finger. He drained the abscess and took a culture. The culture came back Anaerobic Growth, Light Actinomyces turicensis. Does anyone know what this is? Will I need antibiotics?

Hello, if you had needed an antibiotic, your doctor would have prescribed one for you I am sure.

All infections are caused by pathogens or 'bugs'.  They are all different, have different names. Some need air, some thrive without air. this one as anaerobic likes lack of air and low light. (maybe under a bandaid at one point)?  They then know which antibiotics will best treat it.  Amoxacillen and penacillin work well for this type of bacteria.  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4094581/
