Intense pain below sternum?

I am a 20 year old female. I was going to go the doctors today, but due to external forces preventing me from it, I had to settle here. The pain started roughly 4/5 months ago and it comes and goes whenever it wants. I dont think it is related to what I eat and the amount. I thought it was IBS at a time and diabetes at another (I believe I am a hypochondriac) or even simply constipation.  Anyway, it came back yesterday while I was at work and lasted until the morning.  Happened again last night while I was on my way to work and I ended up coming up. My whole abdomen is now sore like a muscle and I can still feel the lingering pain from yesterday. The pain is directly under my sternum - no behind. But in the hollow. It doesn't just cramp up and fade in and out, it just remains there. A sharp, nauseating ball of pain. It hurts to move, to sit, to stand. If I try to stretch,  I will immediately regret it. There was sharp pains throughout my body and I even started sweating during that time.  It is incredibly painful and disabling. I don't understand. It has nothing to do with my stomach (that I know. I didn't take anatomy haha). I thought maybe it was just digestive problems, but it seems a little extreme and its too constant. The only relief I get is when I finally go to bed.. it hurts guys.

its a stomach ulcer I think.  I have the same exact stuff going on.  I have 3 Large stomach ulcers.  All my pressure/pain is right under sternum in the hollow area.  Thought it was heart.  Going to cardiologist anyway to rule it out too.  Let me know what it was please.  I am still worried about mine.  I am thinking I have an aortic anuresym.

Hello,

It could be a number of things, the first two that come to my mind, however, are: A) Hiatal Hernia  and B) Costochondritis, both can cause the pain you are describing.I would see your doctor and discuss this with him, ask about the Hiatal hernia and Costochondritis. Also, I would see a chiropractor, believe it or not, they can help with these issues, mine sure has, I have both issues big time.

Good luck and God bless.

Hi! I'm no expert, but I can tell you that if it is digestive-related, you have no reason to be worried except if you have a fever or if the soft areas of your stomach become hard as hell.
Maybe it's just a nerve stuck somewhere or a muscle twitch since it's permanent?

Stay calm :)
