A mouth ulcer does not cause a sore jaw.
Your sore jaw and swollen gland is likely to be from a viral or bacterial infection. Wisdom teeth that have a problem to grow out from the gum can cause swelling on the side of the mouth of the growing tooth and can cause painful jaw.
Yes thank you. I was wondering if it was common for the ulcer to cause a sore jaw or swollen gland under the jaw?
As the ulcer is on the cheek it is likely that you bit your cheek whilst chewing (this can happen) or you ate something hot or with sharp bits, like crisps.
You can buy from the pharmacy or your large supermarket a gel called Bonjela. Apply that as often as is required. This will help seal the ulcer and stop the teeth aggravating it and thereby allow it to heel.
You can also rinse your mouth with salty water.
If the sore jaw is bothering, make an appointment to see your doctor or your dentist.
