Pain and Stiffness In Neck. Please help!

Hello everyone.

For the past month or so I have been having neck pain. I thought it may have been the way I was sleepnig at first but it didn't go away - I tried new pillows/different angles, etc. I have also expirienced some back pain when I walk too much. I saw my doctor for the back pain alone but he just told me to wait for a physio appointment without checking me over.

The pain is mostly dull and towards the back of my neck, however sometimes I will get a more severe pain down on side. (Sometimes benig once a week, quite rarely.) Over the past few days I have been yawning frequently and sometimes when I yawn the lower front of my throat seems to seize (stiffen) up and hurts. I get scared and worried about swollowing.

I have Hypothyroidism and have been known to have anxiety problems, too.

I also know it could be from bad posture since I spend long hours on a pc, and my vision is bad so I have to lean in close.

However, when checking for stiff necks I find meningitis and other scary possibilities.

Please help? Any ideas?

I tried applying heat last night. At first, it relieved the pain a little but that didn't last long. It was too uncomfoortable to keep the heat pad behind my neck while I slept so I couldn't try for long.

It also did nothing for the cramping muscles ni the front (bottom of my throat). :( That part only really happens at night though.

Thanks for the idea.

I'll try that in bed tonight and report to you tomorrow.

First try applying moist heat to your neck and back the heat will bring more blood to the area
See if it helps and repost to let us know if it helped.
