Should I get regular screenings?

I am an 18 year old female and my mother was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer and there is a good chance that my grandmother (maternal) has endometrial uterine cancer. My mother is 44 and my grandmother is 66. I was wondering how this would effect me since both of these cancers are genetic. Is there an age I should start being screened for these cancers?

Sorry about your mom and grama honey. You are a blessing to them both, and your support means so much~ Always talk to your doctor about all and any concerns you have, although the commenters are very likely correct with their info ; I'll pray for your family. LIz

hi again.  the uterine cancer screenings usually start later in life (around 40 or so).  but the throid cancer should be brought up as a concern with your doc (or gynocogist).  there are test for that to see if it is a problem.

Sorry to hwar about your mum. Hope she has a quick recovery. My mum passed away from breast, ,ovarian and supraclaviscular cancer. Im not sure about thyroid cancer but I do know that I have to look out for tell tale signs as it can run in the family. Not always. To be on the safe side id just look out for anything abnormal. Dont worry too much .

There are no screenings for these cancers and there isn't strong correlation with family history. You don't have anything to worry about
