Sprained ankles can have long term issues and are less likely to do so when they are treated properly when it happens or early on. Unfortunately, you kind of winged it. Hey, I do that too so no judgment there. What you describe is not uncommon for a badly sprained ankle as the after math. You can do range of motion exercises that will increase that, stretching also. It wouldn't hurt to get it checked out as you may have some tendon damage. Some people still elevate ankles after the fact and even wrap them to help. But it may be time to get a doctor to look at it and make sure you are on the right track. Glad it doesn't stop you from doing anything! I sprained an ankle trying to open a window. I mean, really. It's annoying that these things happen!
